The Institute for microbiology, bioenergies and biotechnology (IM2B) currently proposes 7 recurrent calls for projects

Calls for RESEARCH projects

Call for Interdisciplinarity projects

This call for projects fosters the taking of risks through the initiation of new inter-laboratory collaborations to develop new interdisciplinary issues.  It supports exploratory research projects with strong potential.

Call for “Newcomer” projects

This support pertains to the initiation of new research areas led by newcomers within the IM2B, researchers or teachers-researchers. It enables awardees to generate preliminary results to then source funding at regional, national or even international level.

Call for “Scientific conference” projects

To extend the international reach of the IM2B and to foster scientific discussions and collaborative research at national and international level through meetings, the institute co-funds the organisation of international conferences held at one of the IM2B’s sites or in the southern administration region

Call for “Junior researcher registration fee” projects

This support scheme funds grants for PhD students and post-doctoral students to attend international conferences co-organised by at least one of the IM2B members.

Calls for TRAINING projects

Call for “Training action initiative” projects

This support scheme provides the opportunity for Master’s level training to test educational innovations or to initiate new collaborations to strengthen the training-research link, develop the internationalisation, interdisciplinarity and/or professionalism of training and to thus promote the professional integration of students.

Call for “Master’s 2 internships within the IM2B technology platforms” projects

By funding 3 to 4 internships each year, the IM2B promotes training on and through the technology platforms, with the dual aim of increasing the professionalism of master’s students and supporting the technological development of the platforms. Since 2024, this support scheme has also promoted the initiation of new collaborations with the Institute for cancer and immunology (ICI), as internship projects carried out in collaboration with another platform or one of the ICI’s laboratories are encouraged.

Calls for “doctoral contract” offers

The IM2B funds or co-funds doctoral contracts that are part of an interdisciplinary collaboration (co-management between two laboratories) or cross-sectoral collaboration (partnership with a company). This support falls within the framework of the IM2B’s annual call for projects or within the framework of the “Employment of junior PhD students” support scheme in the southern administration region, in liaison with Aix Marseille Université.
