Our ecosystem
The IM2B institute is supported by 3 components, with more than 380 students enrolled in the master's programs and engineering courses offered by our institute, and 4 partner doctoral schools, with 50 new doctoral students each year.

Our training initiatives
The IM2B Institute offers a range of training programs for master's students and doctoral candidates:
- funding for interdisciplinary theses or theses carried out in partnership with a company
- funding of M2 internships to develop new technologies or methodologies on our technology platforms
- development of practical training courses on technology platforms
- international synthetic biology competition, iGEM Aix-Marseille
- mobility grants supported by the TIGER project
Our doctoral program (Plinius Cursus)
The IM2B doctoral program, Plinius Cursus, offers training that complements that of partner doctoral schools, drawing on the scientific expertise and diversity of approaches developed in the institute's laboratories. Delivered in English, it offers personalized, interdisciplinary and professional training in the fields of biophysics-microscopy, biochemistry, whole organisms and omics in microbiology.
Our international activities
On an international level, IM2B is developing close collaborations with the CIVIS Alliance (European Civic University): international season schools and a "blended mobility" program. We have two internationally-partnered degrees with the University of Rome - La Sapienza, and a double-diploma in microbiology with the Franco-Chinese WUT-AMU Institute.
In addition, among the courses supported by the IM2B, three Master's courses are eligible for the TIGER scholarship of excellence, designed to attract the brightest international students. Set up by Aix-Marseille Université as part of its policy of international attractiveness and mobility, this scholarship provides financial assistance, accommodation and a personalized welcome. No specific steps are required to apply for the scholarship: students simply need to submit an application to the master's program of their choice via the appropriate platform. Course leaders select beneficiaries on the basis of academic excellence. Students admitted to the master's program are informed at a later date whether or not they have been awarded a scholarship.

Testimonials
Thanks to an incoming mobility grant from the IM2B institute in 2021, I was able to carry out my Master 2 internship in Marseille in the BBF laboratory. This Internationally-acquired experience enabled me to build up a scientific network and continue my scientific career, in Marseille, as part of a thesis co-financed by the IM2B institute.
