Launching new themes

Objective of the call for projects

The aim of this call for Research projects is to support the installation of new recruits, by giving them the means to develop their own research themes, while strengthening the host laboratory's research facilities.

Targeted actions

Applications for funding are invited for the launch of new projects/new research themes implemented within an IM2B research unit, in line with at least one of the Institute's 4 strategic priorities:

  • Biodiversity, molecular mechanisms and machines
  • Metabolic diversity and cellular approaches
  • Inter-organism dialogue
  • Biotechnologies: bioenergy, environment, health

Projects may involve fundamental or applied research, including finalized projects and partnerships.

Conditions of eligibility

This IM2B program is open to new entrants within the Institute's perimeter. It is aimed at lecturers and research fellows recruited during the 2021 and 2022 calendar years, on the basis of their installation report. Senior lecturers and research fellows recruited during the 2020 calendar year are eligible in the event of maternity or long-term sick leave in 2020 or 2021.

In addition, the project leader must not be funded by a funding agency (A*Midex, ATIP-Avenir, ANR, Marie Curie, ERC, FRM...) at the time of submission.

Selection criteria

  • The quality of the project will be assessed according to two criteria: novelty / originality of the project in relation to the host team, and risk-taking in relation to the state of the art.
  • Project implementation: match between the candidate's profile and the scientific project, consistency of the project with the laboratory's strategy to ensure medium-term feasibility.
  • Potential impact of the project: leverage effect sought to pursue the project in the event of success.
