Targeted Initiatives

Funding requests should focus on launching new projects or research topics carried out within an IM2B joint research unit (UMR) and aligned with at least one of the Institute’s four strategic priorities:

1. Biodiversity, Mechanisms, and Molecular Machines
2. Metabolic Diversity and Cellular Approaches
3. Inter-organismal Dialogue
4. Biotechnologies: Bioenergy, Environment, Health

Projects may involve basic or applied research, including applied research with specific outcomes and collaborative projects.

Eligibility Requirements

This IM2B initiative is open to new faculty members within the Institute’s scope. It is intended for Associate Professors and Research Fellows recruited during the calendar years 2025 and 2026, as evidenced by their appointment minutes. Associate Professors and Research Fellows recruited during the calendar year 2024 are eligible if they were on maternity leave or long-term sick leave in 2024 or 2025. 

Furthermore, the principal investigator of the submitted project must not be receiving funding from a funding agency ( A*Midex, ATIP-Avenir, ANR, Marie Curie, ERC, FRM, etc.) at the time of certification.

Selection Criteria

1. The quality of the project will be assessed based on two criteria: the novelty/originality of the project relative to the host team and the level of risk-taking relative to the state of the art.
2. Project Implementation: alignment between the candidate’s profile and the scientific project; consistency of the project with the laboratory’s strategy to ensure its feasibility in the medium term.
3. Potential impact of the project: the desired leverage to continue the project in the event of success.
