Launching new themes

Objective of the call for projects

The aim of this call for research projects is to support the installation of new recruits. The aim is to give new entrants who are not yet fully funded the means to launch their own research projects, while strengthening the host laboratory's research facilities.

Targeted actions

Applications for funding are invited for the launch of new research projects/themes within an IM2B UMR, in line with at least one of the Institute's 4 strategic priorities:

  • Biodiversity, molecular mechanisms and machines
  • Metabolic diversity and cellular approaches
  • Inter-organism dialogue
  • Biotechnologies: bioenergy, environment, health

Projects may involve fundamental or applied research, including finalized research and partnerships.

Conditions of eligibility

This IM2B program is open to new entrants within the Institute's perimeter. It is aimed at lecturers and research fellows recruited during the 2024 and 2025 calendar years, on the basis of their installation report. Lecturers recruited in calendar year 2023 are eligible in the event of maternity or long-term sick leave in 2023 or 2024.

In addition, the project leader must not be funded by a funding agency (A*Midex, ATIP-Avenir, ANR, Marie Curie, ERC, FRM...) at the time of submission.

Selection criteria

  • The quality of the project will be assessed according to two criteria: novelty / originality of the project in relation to the host team, and risk-taking in relation to the state of the art.
  • Project implementation: match between the applicant's profile and the scientific project, consistency of the project with the laboratory's strategy to ensure medium-term feasibility.
  • Potential impact of the project: leverage effect sought to pursue the project in the event of success.
